Sri Ramanuja Sampradaya · Vishistadvaita Philosophy
Our Identity
Sri Varadraja Perumal Devasthanam, also known as Vishnu Dham, strongly adheres to the Sri Ramanuja Sampradaya of Vaishnava theology. Founded with deep devotion, this sacred temple at Ganpatganj, Supaul, Bihar stands as a beacon of Sri Vaishnava tradition in North Bihar.
Sri Vaishnavism is rooted in the Vaishnava-Agams (Panchratra and Vaikhanasa) and has been nurtured and expounded by twelve Alvars and the great Acharyas across centuries. Their devotional hymns and philosophical expositions continue to animate worship here to this very day.
The Vishistadvaita (specified nondualism) philosophy, the philosophical bedrock of this sampradaya, was placed on an exalted pedestal by the incomparable Sri Ramanujacharya, who wrote his masterpiece commentary on the Brahmasutra (also known as Uttar Mimansa or Sariraka Mimansa of Badarayana). Post-Ramanuja Acharyas further nurtured and elaborated this tradition.
This temple thus closely follows the traditions, rituals, and philosophy of the Ramanuja Sampradaya in all its daily and festival worship.
The Living Philosophy
Twelve poet-saints of South India whose devotional hymns in Tamil, collectively called the Nalayira Divya Prabandham, form the devotional scripture of Sri Vaishnavism. Their compositions, steeped in intense love for Vishnu, continue to be sung in temple worship.
The great 11th to 12th century philosopher-saint who systematised Vishistadvaita philosophy and wrote luminous commentaries on the Prasthana Trayi, the Brahmasutra Bhashya, the Gita Bhashya, and the Vedarthsangraha. His teachings remain the guiding light of this temple.
The doctrine of specified nondualism teaches that the individual soul (cit) and the material world (acit) are real, yet inseparable from and ultimately dependent upon Brahman (Vishnu). Moksha is the blissful experience of Brahman while retaining individual identity.

Panchratra Agam — Padmasanhita
The Panchratra Agam is one of the two principal Agamic traditions of Sri Vaishnavism. The Padmasanhita, one of its chief texts, governs the elaborate daily and festival rituals, from the morning Thiruvanandal to the evening Thiruvonam, ensuring that worship at this temple maintains its ancient authenticity and sanctity.
